Bristol B 22-22 Devon B

At the Three Crowns, 14^th March 2010

Match Report – Going into my first game as captain was quite daunting especially after taking over form the previous captain whose name I cant remember for now!!!. Anyway we started off really well gaining the advantage & winning some quick frames, clearance after clearance to-boot, first set 7-4 up. The 2^nd set was very similar but Devon who are undoubtedly a strong outfit this year were finding their feet and we took the 2^nd set 6-5 with again some top pool, some of the frames top of the A team let alone the B team. The 3^rd set was getting hard to sustain the standard that we started with, Devon fair play to them were now playing the better stuff winning that set 7-4, so going into the final set we were 1 frame up. After some quite good tactical battles in the final set it looked like Bristol were going to win the match right up to the end but it wasn’t to be as Devon won the final frame to make it a 22-22 draw, but to be honest I thought we deserved a little more from the match after witnessing some quality pool!!!! Guys really well done especially after that Somerset game, we can now look forward & try & get back to Yarmouth, it is where we belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man of the Match – There were no 4 from 4’s this time around but there were some really good 3 from 4’s!!! Dan Rosewarne won his last 3 frames showing great determination to get them & also showing great team spirit, Matt Bull also won 3 but should have been 4 unlucky mate. Rosco P also got 3 from 4 & played some quality pool although we could have done without his 7 iron he used in the final frame J. Charlie (size 12) Southcott cleared up from his 1^st visit twice to win both his frames with borrowed shoes (thanks Josh). Rob Winstone played really well for his 2 frames he got & I feel you deserved more on the day mate well played, but my Man of the Match has to be Dean Lapham (chez) who played with great patience & maturity to win his 3 frames, so well played Deano great stuff!!!

Next Match – Dorset away. We are normally quite profitable from Dorset but there is to be no COMPLACENCY as we need every frame from now on in. With Somerset losing to Cornwall 25-19 it has opened the door for us again, so let’s take the opportunity and get 30+ which would put us back on the map!!!!!

A big thank you for all the effort & patience you have shown over the past 4 years. You have taken this team to heights not seen from the B team before, we were all very proud to play for your team top top man! I only hope I can carry it on!!!!!
