Bristol L 20-24 Dorset L

At the Three Crowns, 11th October 2009

Match Report – What a turnout – we actually had 4 subs (yes 4!!!!). Another match that was sooooooo close! I don’t know how much more I can stand.. (the inside of my lip is almost gone!!) We played really well against a great side. We lost the first leg 7 – 4, then lost the second leg by a close 6 – 5 leaving us only 13 – 9 down. We broke from our traditional 3rd leg slow down (I think it was the pink wafers Pee) to win that leg 6 – 5 so with one leg to go we were only 15 – 18 down with it all to play for. I nearly wet myself with excitement (in fact I may have let out a little bit of wee)!!

Sadly it was not to be and we lost with another narrow margin. Bristol 20 – Dorset 24.. They were bricking it for a while though Ladies!

Lady of the Match – Firstly can I ask you all to give yourselves a round of applause and a pat on the back for our achievement this year as a team. We came from nowhere and we have really pulled it together. The Captains from Somerset, Dorset and Devon have all commented on the improvement we have made as a team and the great atmosphere we bring to a match. You are my lovely Pink Ladies and I am proud of each one of you!

There were some fantastic performances at the Dorset game – Ali got 2 frames along with Vicky C and Jess – well done. Michelle came off the bench firing on all cylinders and played some of the best pool I’ve seen her play in a match to win 2 out of 2 – fantastic! Vicky A really helped us along with a great 3 and Pee continued her form with another 3 from 4. Thanks Vick and Pee. My Lady of the match is someone who has come back this season and I’m so glad she’s here. She continues to play great pool and is also a great team player and supporter – thanks Jen, an outstanding 4 from 4 – well done.

Next Match – Well, if we are going to win – it needs to be this one!! I KNOW WE CAN DO THIS…… here’s my list of do’s and don’ts for the last match against Wiltshire on 15th November:

  • DO wear as much pink as possible without breaking the rules (pink bra, pants, hair band, socks, pom poms, lipstick, eyeshadow, jewelery!) If you bring your Boyfriend/Husband/Mum as supporters – they MUST WEAR PINK!
  • DO practice as much as possible before the match – play your league games, get together with the other county girls for practice and come along to the practice sessions.
  • DO get to the match nice and early and relax into the day.
  • DON’T go out and get absolutely bladdered the night before so you can’t even see the table!
  • DON’T forget to support your team mates between frames or if you are a sub – it’s all about the atmosphere on the day.
  • DO come along to the game with a positive mental attitude. We ARE going out on a high this season, we WILL give those other teams something to think about next season, we ABSOLUTELEY will win!!
  • DO tell your Captain that you can make the match as soon as you get this letter so she doesn’t pull her hair out for 2 weeks wondering if we have a team!!!

Can’t wait – see you there!
