Match Report – A good win against Dorset. However a massive win for Devon does put up against it in 3^rd. A big win required next month! We started well enough with a consistent 7-4 1^st set win and an 8-3 2nd set win putting us in the driving seat at 15-7 up at the half way stage. We didn’t really push on as much as I hoped in the third set, although we won it 6-5. Finishing off the 4^th set with a 7-4 win gave us a respectable 28-16 win, however I cant say I didn’t hope for a few more on the total. We are now 13 points off top spot Devon and just 2 points behind Cornwall. With the last game of the half way stage being Cornwall v Devon, I fully expect us to be at least 2^nd, if not 1^st come the end of the day on June 7^th. We have to aim for a 30-14 win and 35 points in the bag. So it leaves us with no room for error.

Man of the Match – Some very good performances this month. Three out of four for Woody in what couldn’t have been an easy game for him. Also threes for Danny, Marcus and Stevo. Well played to Colin who got his first four out of four of the season. But my man of the match has to go to Rob Winstone by a country mile. 3 top class clearances worthy of the A team and easily best player on the day. Well done mate good stuff.

Next Match – Away in Wiltshire. Lets get the controversy out of the way. I dropped a player on Sunday for playing snooker. I’ve warned about it before and took me a good 30 minutes before making a tough choice. After reflection I still think it was the right choice and the same will happen again if anybody is playing snooker/playing fruit machines for excessive periods during the match rather than supporting your team. We need to keep the noise loud and the atmosphere in our favour. If we are scattered about that wont happen. After Devon B winning 39-5 last month against Wiltshire we really do need to win massively. 2/4 wasn’t enough against Dorset and it wont be against Wiltshire. I am going to play the top 6 in the rankings below regardless due to these being the most consistent, my texts of late to you all seem to suggest this is a must. We seem to have got into the routine of not supporting as much and even, in some instances, take the piss out of our players when they are at the table. This stops now!. I want 100% encouragement to our players throughout there frames in every single shot!
