Bristol A 21-23 Cornwall A

At The Three Crowns, Bristol, 19th April 2009

Match ReportHome to Cornwall and a game I thought may be close but one I expected us to win. What is it with us..... Yet again we stuck to the same routine we seem to have developed giving teams a head start....Although not as bad a start as we have had we still ended up losing the first leg 7-4 which wasn’t too bad but we then lost the second leg 7-4 also putting us 14-8 behind. I thought that this would have given us the kick up the ass we needed and although we favoured slightly better in the third leg we still lost it 6-5 which now put us a huge 20-13 behind needing to win the last leg 9-2 just to get a draw. We lost the first frame of the leg making it 21-13 and then it was if we woke up.... winning a massive 8 frames on the bounce to get it back to 21-21 and in doing so showing huge belief and spirit and not only thinking we could get a draw but thinking we can still win the match.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be a great comeback as we lost the final two frames losing 23-21.

Man of the MatchThere’s no contest for it this month Although we didn’t have much run in the frames and breaks a few of us including myself were guilty of some poor misses and I also feel that maybe we might be going for the odd finish too soon instead of keeping it tight and playing the percentages. The one performance that stood out and indeed the only player getting 4 from 4 and playing some of the best pool on the day was Andy Cooper.... IF ANYONE CAN,THE COOPERMAN CAN! Well done coops...awesome performance.

Next Match – The next match is away to Dorset. Despite the result against Cornwall we’re still up there and a heavy defeat of Dorset with Cornwall hosting Somerset could see us overhall them so lets get back to our bashing ways and get back to the top of the region where we belong!  You all know the routine.....if your not gonna be there can you please let Greg or myself know
