Match Report – Bristol B 36-8 Dorset B

Ok lets not get carried away. This is our biggest win for sometime by far and the score in years to come will go down in history as an awesome result, but I want us to keep our heads on.  Dorset were struggling for a side in both the A and B teams and most of the Dorset players heads were down before they even walked through the door.  We kicked off with a 9-2 first set win and followed that up with a 8-3 second set win to go in at the half way stage 17-5 up.  What I do think is a credit to us is that we didn’t relinquish our dominance in the second half of the game, something we have been known to do in the past. (ie already know we won, letting our guard down).  The last two sets saw us win it 19-3 and we took the match 36-8.  You cant fault the performance but lets remember there are a lot more harder games out there. Yarmouth next year for instance, but first Somerset next month, who themselves want to make it to Yarmouth.

Man of the Match

Impossible to choose with four players getting four out of four and six players getting three from four.  Man of the match therefore this month goes to the entire team.  We all know each other so well now and we are proving that a great team does great things.  I cant wait for the opportunity to defend our title next year with you all!!!

Next Match

Somerset Away.  It seems like an age since we had an Away game, but here we are all going down to Weston again.  Lets hope theres no power cut this year!!!!  Somerset are riding high and have the dizzy heights of a chance to qualify for Yarmouth ahead of Devon.  A very good achievement by any side.   This alone proves they are strong and up for the challenge.  Its up to us to prove them otherwise.  There is talk that it is better for Somerset to go to Yarmouth rather than Devon and I agree with that, but I certainly don’t want it to affect your performances.  I want you to all give the usual 110% and come home with the win.  Lets blow them away and show them what they have to contend with February next year.

I must finally point out that I don’t think I have seen such dominance from one team in the course of 8 games in the mens division.  To be 27 points in front of 2nd place and a massive 52 points in front of 3rd place is a sight to behold.  So lets set a new goal, as we all need to strive for something!! We need another 65 points to beat Devon’s 2005 total of 313 points.  Why don’t we give it a go and smash another record into the record books!!!
