Match Report – Cornwall B 20-24 Bristol B

Well did we have a shock start! Which makes this win all the more sweeter.  We started going 5-0 down, eventually losing the first set 7-4. We came back in the second set with a 6-5 win, to trail 12-10 at half time. Three changes in the third set helped, with all three reserves winning their frames, seeing us take the set 7-4 to lead the match for the first time 17-16. Going into the last set we quickly lost 3 of the first 4 frames to trial 18-19.  But an awesome display saw us win 6 of the last 7 frames to win the match 24-20 a repeat score in last years game.  We could ask no more on the day and this probably tops the same game last year with us having to give up 3 of our players to the A team.  It was a great performance and sees us go into Devon on a high and I can see no reason why we cant beat these guys into next season! As requested last time please do your best to stay around the tables to cheer on your team mates at all times right up until the end of the match.  Too many people were playing Snooker or on the fruity.  We need you all there cheering on every pot. It gives us a huge advantage and its requires all of you to give it some and more. Well done boys, bring on Devon!!!

Man of the Match

Some top class frames. We had 3 players get 4 out of 4. This equating to 50% of our total of 24.  So we also we had quite a lot of players not on there game. Lets not have this against Devon! Josh Lane getting 4 in his first full appearance in the team this season taking him to 7 out of 8 for the season. Keep it up Josh.  It was great to see Daggio back with a 4. Well done mate, any chance of the same against Devon?. My MOTM goes to Colin Chilcott, who quite simply has been a revelation since qualifying for the trials and has firmly installed himself as a top 6 B team player. Well Done mate.

Next Match

This is massive. Its our biggest game every season and this one is no exception. Home to Devon. We find ourselves 8 points behind but we are the home team and overall we are the better side on paper. We just have to prove it on the table.  And what a time to prove it!!  A 24-20 win will see us leap frog above Devon, but why stop there. Im looking for the biggest win possible. But a win nevertheless is the minimum we need. A big win could see Devon slip to 3rd and ultimately miss out on a place at the Nationals. No mercy gents, punish them hard. Bring your ‘A’ game and get the noise levels up!!  Im taking a slightly different stance on team selection for this game.  As long as I have everyone available from the 19 man squad, I will automatically be choosing the top 5 you see below as they have statistically been the top performers over the first 6 games. The next 6 I choose from will be a combination of who needs the appearances over what I believe to be the best 6.  Its possible that even if you got 2 out of 4 against Cornwall you may miss this game purely because you have already qualified for the Nationals, don’t take it personally. But as we all know it is a team game.
