Match Report – Wiltshire B 19-25 Bristol B

Another win in the bag and thirty points to boot.  As Ive said before Im aiming higher this year and I feel based on our very high standards we came out just short in this match.  We won in Swindon 27-17 last year and I truly believed we could better that. It wasn’t to be but never the less 30 points is a good haul.  We won the first set 7-4 but it could have been better after racing into a 7-2 lead.  Again we got off the blocks quickly in the second set, going 5-1 up, taking us 12-3 up only to lose 4 of the next 5 frames winning the set 6-5 and going in at the half way stage just 4 frames up at 13-9.  Our best set of the day was the third, equally the first set score of 7-4 but we lost some unlucky frames – oh yes and broke a cue butt along the way! Going into the final set 20-13 up I had hopes of beating our 27 from last year but a disappointing 5-6 defeat meant 25 points. We’ve got a great atmosphere in this team it’s the best Ive ever witnessed anywhere in pool.  But with it comes hard work to maintain it on a regular basis and that takes effort from each and every one of you, playing or reserve. But that’s what we need to do.  Please please please do your best to stay around the tables to cheer on your team mates at all times right up until the end of the match.  I know its tempting to play on another table or play on the fruity but lets keep that noise going for 100% of the match.  The A’s almost beat us for noise during this game which was great to see.  With both teams making huge amounts of noise were be even more of a match for any team

Man of the Match

A mixed bag this game. Half the team seem to have had a bad day and the other half having a really good day. Not many middle of the road games.  3 out of 4s for Dan, Colin and myself but man of the match goes to Alex Leggate with four out of four with consistent pool all day. (Ill let him off the one missed black  J  ) It means he’s raced into the trials along with Kev Smith and Marcus Foster. Good luck to all three.  I know whatever three I end up with there be top class players and an asset to the team (yes, even if it’s the three we got now)

Next Match

The games are coming thick and fast with Cornwall away up next.  This is a very tough game away as they proved by beating Devon last month who remain top of the table, despite the defeat.  We have to go there and do what no team has achieved yet this season and that’s win in Cornwall.  Every one needs to be 100% on their game.  Five games left and we need 5 wins. Yes ok,were in Yarmouth we all know that.  But each and every one of us is fighting for a starting place.  No one is guaranteed!!   DON’T FORGET TO TEXT ME!
