Match Report – Devon A 22-22 Bristol A

Away to Devon is the most difficult fixture of the year, Devon have dominated region 6 for many years now and playing them on there own turf is always a struggle.  Going away as A team captain for the first time this year I would of expected to be beat but was hoping that if we lose we get as close to Devon as possible to keep us in the running.  Man was I wrong, we came out the blocks firing going from 3-1 down to win 11 of the next 13 frame 8 of which was in a row!  8-3 win in the first leg and a 6-5 win in the next, Coops started leg 3 with another win putting us 15-8 up and flying.  I think we all thought “we’re going to win this” But Devon being the class act that they are dug deep and there class came through catching us and even edging in front 21-20. Flacky pulling out a monster fluke against a not very pleased Dave Williams to finish off a great finish to get us level. Tim was massively unlucky to see the white drift in off whilst on a clear cut finish left it all to do for the Woodster! Who pulled out a great black to level the match at 22-22! A great result in reflection, any extra points picked up in Devon are always a bonus. We all know now we could of won that game which shows how strong we now are and what we have developed into! We can go on and win the region and get to Yarmouth and bearing in mind Devon only just lost out on a 3 way play off this year at Yarmouth to Leicestershire who went on to win the championships I know we have the team to win the National finals and become the best team in the country! What we must do now is not get complacent we still need to get the results whoever we are playing against, show no mercy and knockdown everyone who get in our way! We are now in my opinion favourites to win but we still got to do the work but it is in our hands! Well done boys!

Man of the Match

Man of the match- Mark Wood receives this months man of the match, Mark has shown me true grit and determination, after struggling last year and just making back his place in the A team he has got on with his job and has shown absolute class, winning 3 from 4 in Devon and against Cornwall he now sits in 2nd in the rankings. He is showing the will to win and if we can all get the same desire as Mark there would be no doubt we would get to Yarmouth. Mark pulled out a great black in the final frame to get our well deserved draw, well done fucker!!!

Next Match

Next Match- Away to Dorset- I would encourage as many people as possible to get on the coach, the atmosphere is ledgendary and helps with our team building! Dorset have lost a few players and are not as strong as they were last year however like I said before we musn’t get complacent. Everyone go for 4 from 4!! Lest kick these punks into touch Basher style!!! CCOOMMEE OONN!
