Mens A Team Report – Greg Gamlin (Standing in for Mick Dagostino)

Bristol A 28-16 Dorset A -
I would describe our win against Dorset a case of 'job done' fortunately for us on the day Dorset were really struggling for players and we were up against only 8 players!!! The initial reaction was positive, we'd turned over Devon and made top of the region, now Dorset has just handed us 12 frames and we hadn't hit a ball. However the run went against us and I think it's safe to say nobody really played awesome!

This could be our wake up call, we haven't won the region yet, far from it, I believe this will go down to the final frame of the final match! Every frame counts from here on in, we have to pick ourselves up from this and go out in style for the last 2 just like we know we can!! Devon felt the force of what we are capable of now we need to show the rest of the region, even the easier games we must show no mercy! We are still top of the region now with only 2 games to go, lets step it up and kick some backside.

Man of the match was a little hard to select this time round, I was the only player to hit 4 from 4, however having 2 of those frames given to me I dont think I warrant the man of the match, so this month my man of the match goes to Ken Edwards who I felt played the best pool on the day, he was very solid. Ken won 3 from 4, having lost 1 frame to a very good break and dish from Dorset. Well Done Ken!

Next Match – Away to Somerset

Bristol B 31-13 Devon B – Another good result.  Although with an 8-0 headstart ,  maybe we could have done better than 23-13 against what look ed

like a weak side in the table.  Saying that some of the Dorset players pulled out some good finishes and they gave us a game.  Devon had a big win

against  Wiltshire and I now consider it to be a two horse race.  With 16 points between us and Cornwall I think they wont make a challenge now.

Our lead at the top is 7 points which is not a lot with 88 frames left to play!!  We really need to shine for the last two games and show the quality we are capable of.  Last time out against Somerset we scrapped to a 23-21 win at home.  This time around that type of score will be unacceptable as we

need 30 points minimum to keep the pressure on.  Lets go and do a job on them!

Man of the Match – Kevin and I are still toe to toe getting 4 out of 4.  This month though I give my man of the match to Jason Gilmour for his

3 out of 4.  Is this guy back or what!!!!

Next Match – MASSIVE game!!  Game 9 sees us away to Somerset and we need to win big!!  Get down there early get  some practice and get all your heads on.  Your going to need to be 150% if we want to get to Yarmouth.  Come on lets do this!!

Ladies Team Report – Tina Harrison

Bristol L 18-26 Devon L – Well another game that was so close I thought we had it. I think we should all have a pat on the back though as Devon Ladies are a good side and with one player down we gave them a good fight. We are all playing better than ever and I’m sure the wins will start to come very soon. Becky and Vicky won a healthy 2 games each, well done to both Sue and Zoe who were playing well all day and won 3 of their games. My Lady of the match has to go to Kate who won 4 for us against some tough opponents – well done Kate.

Lady of the match -  My Lady of the match has to go to Kate who won 4 for us against some tough opponents – well done Kate Kate is by far at the top of the ladies rankings but it’s a fight for the next few places with Sue and Zoe both level on games won and Merran only 1 game behind that – we’ll have to see what happens next month.

Next Match  - As holiday season comes to an end I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will not struggle for players again this season – your attendance is crucial at the next game so please make sure you let me know if you can make it ASAP. I have arranged a practice evening at the Three Crowns on Thursday 30th August from 7.30, I am hoping to arrange for a member of the Men’s side to join us for coaching and to answer any questions you may have. Please let me know if you will be able to make it.
