Bristol County PoolMens A edge closer to glory

The seventh game of the County Pool season saw the Bristol teams take on Devon at the Three Crowns, Bristol on August 14th.

The Mens A team recorded an impressive 25-19 win which has reignited their chances of qualifications for the Nationals.  The result leaves the A team just 4 points behind second placed Cornwall and 8 points behind leaders Devon. Ben Flack continued his dominance at the top of the rankings winning all 4 of his frames, taking his overall record to an impressive 23 wins from 28 frames.

The Mens B side lost top place after a cruel 21-23 defeat.  Trailing 20-15, the B side fought back hard to trail 22-21 only for a horrendous fluke on the black in the last frame which gave Devon the vital win.  It’s still all to play for however with the B team trailing second placed Cornwall by 5 points and 6 points behind leaders Devon.  The best performance of the day came from Craig Hill (pictured) who won all 4 of his frames. Jon Millard remains top of the player rankings winning 18 of his 27 frames.

The ladies recorded their second win of the season with an impressive 23-21 victory over the high flying Devon Ladies.  Along with the draw with Somerset last month the ladies team are becoming a very strong team that will be hard to beat for the rest of the season.  Kate McDonnell continued her push towards an England trial. Winning three of her four frames she took her overall record to 21 wins from 28 frames.

Bristol’s next game is the crucial away game against Cornwall on September 10th.  If you are interested in competing please phone Jenny Bennett on 07900825821 or visit our website at www.bristolcountypool.com

Meanwhile the Three Crowns will be staging the Fosters Open with a guaranteed prize fund of £1500.  Qualification for the last 16 will be held on four separate events, with four qualifiers from each event. The first qualifier is on September 17th and will cost just £7.50 to enter.  If you would like further details please phone Ben or Ed on 9558007.
