Bristol B team provide edge in county battle
Green un - April 23 2005

Bristol's men's A and ladies teams both drew 22-22 against Cornwall at the Three Crowns in the third round of county matches.

The Men's A fixture saw Bristol build a 14-8 lead at the halfway stage, only for Cornwall to redress the balance in the last two sets.

Ben Flack and Dave Fox currently top the Bristol rankings after winning 9 of their 12 frames.

The Bristol men's B side, aiming to bounce back after a disappointing result result against Devon, got off to a slow start and found themselves 13-9 begind at the halfway point.

However there was no looking back from then on as Bristol turned on the style to win 16 of the next 22 frames for a comprehensive 25-19 win against the 2004 winners.

Qualification for the National championships next March is now a genuine hope.

For the third match in a row the ladies side let their concentration slip in the final leg.

Appearing to have all but sealed the win at 18-11 up, they lost 11 of the last 15 frames to draw.

Jennie Bennett had the best record of the day, taking all four of her frames but heading the rankings for Bristol Ladies at present is Kate McDonnell, who has won nine of her 12 frames.

Bristol next game is away to Wiltshire on May 15.  Anyone Interested in competing can phone Jennie Bennett on 07900 825821 or visit www.bristolcountypool.com
