Pool Starts with
a bang The first game of the County Pool season saw the Bristol teams take on Somerset on February 6 at the Three Crowns public house. The Men's A side came back from a shaky start at 7-4 down to beat Somerset A 26-18. Notable performances came from Dave Fox, his first game for a year, and Ben Flack. With the likes of new boys Neil Walsh, Matt Bull, Derek Murphy and IPA professional Simon Doyle deciding to come back for another season, optimisn is high. The Men's B side had a storming start to the season thrashing their B team counterparts 32-12 and Lee Rossiter with a 100 per cent record. The ladies couldn't stop a spirited fightback from the reigning champions Somerset as they lost out 19-25. Maria Polledri, Nikki Curry and Becky Smithson have recently joined and competition for places will be high. Meanwhile the player of the year awards for 2004 were awarded to Ryan Brook (Men's A Team), Jon Millard and Mark Stevens (joint winners for the Men's B team) and Lynne Emerton (Ladies Team) Bristol play Devon away on March 13.
